Why we built this
Why NoCVJobs?
I built NoCVJobs because local hiring is broken.
Not for everyone, not for every role, but especially for the jobs people still ask about in person.
Shops, cafes, takeaways, barbers, garages, small businesses, high street businesses.
The places that keep our towns alive.
Many of these businesses are already under pressure. Rent, rates, energy costs, supplier costs, staffing problems, quieter streets, less footfall.
And on top of all that, they are expected to pay just to post a simple job listing.
I am tired of seeing local businesses ripped off for something that should be simple.
If a cafe needs someone for weekends, or a takeaway needs help tonight, or a shop wants to give someone local a chance, that should not require a complicated recruitment platform, a corporate hiring portal, or expensive job advert fees.
But this is not just about businesses.
It is about people too.
The old CV process is dated, intimidating and, for many people, a barrier to work.
Not everyone has a polished CV.
Not everyone is good at writing about themselves.
Not everyone performs well on long application forms.
Not everyone can explain who they are through boxes, dropdowns and a million questions.
I have seven children, four of them autistic, and I have seen first hand how stressful and painful forms can be.
I have seen the anxiety that comes from trying to answer question after question, only for the real person to disappear behind the process.
That is what frustrates me most.
Because sometimes the person who would be brilliant in the job is not the person with the best CV.
Sometimes they are the person who just needs a chance.
A quick conversation.
A simple introduction.
A way to say:
"I am local."
"I am available."
"I am willing to learn."
"I just need someone to give me a shot."
That is why NoCVJobs exists.
No CV.
No applicant account.
No long forms.
No scrap paper behind the counter.
Just a simple way for local people to introduce themselves to local businesses by text, voice or video.
Businesses can post a job quickly, print a QR poster, and let people scan to apply.
If they are not hiring right now, someone can still scan a "leave your details" code and be saved properly in the business dashboard for later.
It is simple on purpose.
Accessible on purpose.
Local on purpose.
NoCVJobs is not trying to replace professional recruitment.
It is trying to remove barriers from the jobs where the current process is too much.
Because everyone deserves a chance at work.
Not just the people who are good at CVs.
Not just the people who can get through long forms.
Not just the people who know how to play the recruitment game.
Everyone.
